Silent Hill f has its fair share of puzzles that players will come across on the first playthrough of the game. However, that is not the end of them because the story changes during the second playthrough, and players will also find a few more puzzles that are directly linked to the endings.
The Crimson Water puzzle is only accessible in NG+ and can be quite difficult to make sense of. This guide offers a solution to the puzzle and how players will be able to purify the Sacred Sword in Silent Hill f.
Where to Find the Crimson Water NG+ Puzzle in Silent Hill f
To access this puzzle, players will first need to progress through the story on their NG+ run until they reach the Main Hall. Normally, players would have to complete the three rituals on the base game, but since you already have the fox arm and abilities, you can basically skip the whole chapter. Before you do that, first make your way to the southeast side of the map, where you can open a door to go up the stairs and reach the upper section. The floor here is broken, forcing you to go around the room to reach the other side.
Deal with the enemies here, and you will find a wall that has a mark that you can go through using your vision by pressing L2/LT on your controller. Back here is an Inari Sama door that you can now open, and this leads to the Heritage of Crimson Water.
Before attempting the puzzle, head up the right path. This leads you inside the building, where you can find a character upgrade on the left and the key item, Hotei-sama Sitting Crossed-legged, which is necessary for Ending 2, Fox’s Wedding.
Crimson Water Puzzle Solution in Silent Hill f (Correct Bell Chime Order)
Once you are done looking around in this small area, go down to the stone at the bottom and interact with it to enter the puzzle entry in your journal. The information states that the bells shall be rung thrice. You might have noticed the constant sound of the clank in the background. What you need to do is ring three of the numerous Bell Chimes in this area in synchronization with the clank sound. So you will need to ring after every clank.
Here’s the solution:
- The first Bell Chime is located at the entrance of the building where you got the Key Item. This has the Volcano symbol on it.
- For the second one, come back down to the stone where you started the puzzle. To the right of it is a tree with a Bell Chime that has the Water Waves symbol on it.
- The third one is located on the stone bridge, which has the symbol of the Withered Tree on it.
If you ring all three bells in the correct order and while keeping in check with the clank sound, the water in the whole area will turn Crimson, and your work here is done.
How to Purify Sacred Sword in Silent Hill f
Once you have the Sacred Sword and have completed the Crimson Water Puzzle, you can complete the Main Hall chapter. This will put you back at the entrance of Shu’s house, and you can make your way forward to reach Ebisugaoka. After dealing with a bunch of enemies, some of which will block your path, you will come to a split: one going right, which is the main path, and a path on the left, which takes you up the stairs to the small shrine. It is here that you will find a stone basin filled with the same red water from the Heritage of Crimson Water.
You can now place your Sacred Sword into the water, and this will purify it. This will remove the durability feature from the weapon, which allowed it to regenerate durability when inside the sheath. Purifying the Sword is necessary for the second ending.
